Uttar Pradesh government on 10th June, 2020 has amended a law known as Uttar Pradesh Prevention of Cow Slaughter (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 which impose strict penalties on the cow slaughtering of upto maximum 10 years of imprisonment and fine maximum upto 5 lakh.
This legislation will protect the cows which are treated as mother and are worshipped as goddesses in Hindu religion.
