*इंग्लंड वरून भारतात डॉ.वेलबी चे एक कमिशन आले होते.या कमिशनने रूपयाच्या विनिमयाचा दर ठरवायचा होता. यासाठी जगभरातील अर्थ शास्त्रज्ञांना निमंत्रीत केले होते आणि त्यांची या विनिमयाच्या दराबद्दल मांडलेली मते ऐकली.*
*शेवटचे मत डाॅ.बाबासाहेब मांडणार होते. इतक्यात डॉ.वेलबी बाबासाहेबांना म्हणाले,* *डॉ.आंबेडकर,मी जगातील प्रसिध्द विद्वान अर्थ शास्त्रज्ञांची मते व संदर्भ ऐकली आहेत तेंव्हा आपले मत मला ऐकण्याची अवश्यकता आता वाटत नाही!*
*यावर बाबासाहेब नम्र व शांतपणे म्हणाले, डॉ.वेलबी आपण ज्या विद्वान व प्रसिध्द अर्थ शास्त्रज्ञांची जी मते व संदर्भ ऐकलेत त्या विद्वान व प्रसिध्द अर्थ शास्त्रज्ञानी ज्या पुस्तकातील हे संदर्भ सांगितले त्या पुस्तकांचा मी लेखक आहे. त्या पुस्तकांतील काही भाग लिहिणे अजुन बाकी आहे. तो मीच पुर्ण करू शकतो !*
*हे ऐकुन डॉ. वेलबी खाली उतरले बाबा साहेबांच्या हातात हात घालून माफी मागितली व रूपयाच्या विनिमयाचा दर ठरवण्याचे काम बाबासाहेबांवर सोपवले. जगाने त्यांच्या ज्ञानाला स्विकारले पण भारतात आजही त्यांचा फोटो पाहील्यावर कित्येक लोकांच्या कपाळावर आठ्या पडतात ही शोकांतिका आहे.*
