Introduction To Standard Dial Combination Lock Forging

• standard dial combination lock forging process-1. Free forging

Forgings that use simple general-purpose tools or directly deform the blanks on the forging equipment and between the lower anvils to obtain the required geometric shape and internal quality are called free forging.
1. The basic procedures can be divided into lengthening, upsetting, punching, bending, etc.
Stretching: also known as stretching, it is a forging process that reduces the cross-sectional area of the blank and increases the length.
Upsetting: It is a forging process that reduces the height of the blank and increases the cross-sectional area.
Punching: It is a forging method that uses a punch to punch through or impermeable holes on the upset blank.
Bending: A forging process in which a certain tool and die is used to bend the blank into a prescribed shape.
2. Features and applications of free forging
Features: greater process flexibility, shorter production preparation time;
The productivity is low, the precision of forgings is not high, and the forgings with complex shapes cannot be forged.
Application: Free forging is the main production method for large forgings. This is because free forging can break up the coarse casting structure in the steel ingot, cavities such as pores and shrinkage porosity in the forged steel ingot, and make the streamlined structure reasonably distributed along the shape of the forging.

Forging process-2. Tire die forging

Tire die forging is a forging method that uses movable molds (tire molds) to produce die forgings on free forging equipment.
Features: Compared with free forging
① Since the blank is formed in the die cavity, the forging size is more accurate, the surface is smoother, and the streamline structure distribution is more reasonable, so the quality is higher.
② Since the shape of the forging is controlled by the die cavity, the blank is formed faster, and the productivity is 1 to 5 times higher than that of free forging.
③ Tire die forging can forge forgings with more complicated shapes.
④ The forging parts are less, so the machining allowance is small, which not only saves metal materials, but also reduces machining man-hours.
Disadvantages: a forging hammer with a larger tonnage is required; only small forgings can be produced; the service life of the tire mold is relatively low; the tire mold is generally moved by manpower during work, so the labor intensity is relatively high.
Application: Tire die forging is used to produce medium and small batches of forgings.

Abbreviated as die forging, it is a forging method that uses a die (forging die) to deform the blank on the die forging outward hammer to obtain a forging.
Features: Compared with free forging and tire die forging, it has the following advantages
① High production efficiency
② The surface quality is high, the machining allowance is small, there is little or no remaining block, the size is accurate, the tolerance of forgings is 2/3~3/4 smaller than that of free forging, which can save a lot of metal materials and machining man-hours.
③ The operation is simple, and the labor intensity is lower than that of free forging and tire die forging.
shortcoming:
① The weight of die forgings is limited by the capacity of general die forging equipment, and most of them are below 50~70kg;
② Forging dies require expensive die steel, and the processing of the die cavity is more difficult, so the forging dies have a long manufacturing cycle and high cost;
③ The investment cost of die forging equipment is larger than that of free forging.
Application: Generally used to produce large quantities of forgings.
