Blizzard pays tribute to Reckful by adding him to WoW as Rogue

  • Fast forward four months and we can now finally see how the new shadows seem in the upcoming Shadowlands expansion. Before this week we reported the new NVIDIA Game Ready Driver additional support for the looming new attribute in Shadowlands WOW Classic Burning Crusade Gold, and several Beta/PTR players have currently shared some screenshots comparing Shadowlands together and with no Ray Traced Shadows enabled.

According to Blizzard, the newest option within Shadowlands uses DirectX Ray Tracing 1.1 (DXR 1.1) and a DXR 1.1-capable driver is needed to use Ray Traced Shadows. We've included the shared comparison screenshots down under. As may be seen in those shots, and as may have been anticipated, the ramifications of Ray Traced Shadows aren't that clear but do seem to be more powerful in darker regions with low light.

Blizzard has updated their minimum necessary spec to add 100GB storage space for the two SSDs and hard drives. However, they warn players that performance of your hard disk might influence Shadowland's gaming experience.

In a surprising turn of events, Blizzard has announced that World of Warcraft Shadowlands currently needs a 100GB SSD as a minimum requirement, but does that mean that you can't run the game using a regular spinning hard drive? A few Shadowlands beta testers have reported that running the game in an HDD hasn't affected their gameplay or performance in any substantial way. However, as this expansion is still in beta, this can be subject to change.

However, it is most likely a fantastic idea to run this game on an SSD anyway (here is our list of Greatest SSDs). You can also possibly experience"hitching" in which the HDD is not fast enough to flow resources in real time.

Buying an SSD shouldn't be a big problem for most consumers -- nearly all new PCs and notebooks come with solid state storage. Additionally, with the purchase price of SSDs dropping exponentially over the past couple of decades cheap WOW TBC Classic Gold, grabbing a shiny new SSD only for Shadowlands will not break the bank for most budget gamers.
