"I would say [the roadmap is] probably slightly smaller than the previous ones since we're focusing on a few key areas of Mut 22 coins and is also getting going on Madden 23 in a big manner," Graddy said at the time. "So I'll stand by what we've said for during the last few years that we're a live service and we'll continue to update this game. However, we're definitely not going to be talking about a brand new mode."
The news story was noticed in part because franchise mode is a subject of contention with certain Madden fans. In fact, the roadmap originally came in response to the hashtag #fixmaddenfranchise, which circulated on Twitter in mid-2020, which was triggered by reports that EA was not planning any improvements to franchise mode that year.
Since then, EA has released new commissioner tools and also other enhancements, including a major overhaul of its scouting tools. Madden 22 also introduced an expanded scene engine, cutscenes from the season as well as coaching skill trees. Nevertheless, fans continue to discuss the various areas in which franchise mode has the potential to improve compared to other games, due to the lack of customization to the myriad bugs.
Although EA Sports wouldn't provide any specifics, further improvements remain on the table for sometime next year. The changes could include franchise relocation improvements promised in the original road map in Madden 22. Expect more details in 2022.
