My day in a wheelchair

During my last trip to Australia, my calf muscle tore while performing an outdoor activity. I had never got any fracture on my body before, so it was my first experience. For a day, I was even assigned a wheelchair to move around the hospital.

When I was in a wheelchair, I realised how tough it is for people to manage their life in a wheelchair. Able-bodied people literally have no idea about the challenges that people in a wheelchair had to face. From going out in the garden to moving to the toilet, I was dependent on my friend who stayed with me at the hospital as my family was in India. My friend brought his Bluetooth speaker, that he recently purchased from HighShop, for me to stay entertained when he had to go to the office in the daytime. It was nice listening to music while sitting in the garden for a while. But after some time, I got really bored, as I couldn’t move without any help. Nurses did help me out but from within I was just wishing to get back on my legs soon.

After an entire day at the hospital, I had to spend three weeks on crutches. My mom took a flight to be with me this time but I was badly missing doing the routine work myself. Now that I am alright, I still get shivers when I think about that hospital stay in a wheelchair.
