My favorite method of running is to make money. Even if it is impossible to create the most advanced runes like natures or enchants airs with lower levels of difficulty can still prove profitable. They're quite quick and easy to make money.
For going around the island bring two prayer potions (you will need it with all the protect prayers you'll want to use) four potions to prevent poisoning (really you will need these) one super energy (you don't want to be depleted of energy while crossing the road) and the remainder with food. The Cammalot Teliportation Runes work fantastic to use when you aren't eating enough food.
To complete the underground portion, you'll need 4 prayer pots. 4 super-energy potions. 2 potions to prevent poison. You can also make use of the items needed for the quest. Keep an eye on the run. If it's lower than 50%, you may add a few extra energy for running. When prayer is at 28%, you can take a prayer drink.
For the demon, one anti poison (for after the fight when you get teliported into the middle of the jungle), the runes of teliportation for camalot (for after the fight, or if the demon somehow manages to
