I dropped by the formal launch of the unique collection at Shangrila Makati and learned more about the brand that originated from tennis legend Rene Lacoste.Lacoste is a well known fashion retail brand popular for their knit polo shirts. The polo shirt brand was started by tennis legend Rene Lacoste in 1927.
Rene Lacoste was nicknamed the crocodile for his tenacity on court so he created himself a uniform, sporting the iconic crocodile logo, that would allow for better sweat absorption and freedom of movement.According to Juliane Addision, president for brand licensing of Movado group, Lacoste named his uniform L.12.12.
"He named it L.12.12 - L for Lacoste, 1 for its one of a kind fabric, 2 for its short sleeves, and 12 for the number of the final version of the design he selected for production. Heralding the birth of the contemporary sportswear, the L.12.12 has remained a beloved wardrobe staple for the elegantly athletic person," said Addison.Lacoste's sporting spirit is reignited in the Lacoste.12.12 watch collection. It was also launched very timely last December 12, 2014.
The launch party that was hosted by Anthony Suntay and Patricia Evangelista gathered friends from media and business.Much like the classic polo shirt it is named after, the Lacoste 12.12 Watch Collection embodies the brand's rich history of designing crisp, elegant pieces, and we are really excited to introduce it for the holidays," added Addison.
There are six confident colors that make up the Lacoste.12.12 watch design palette: grey, red, blue, white, green and black. I personally loved the white and green ones.
The designs that feature a knit polo shirt (like texture) reflect the unique, timeless and classic power of the brand. The attractive mesh effect runs around the case and sides and along the soft-touch silicone strap.The watches really have the same feel of the all-time favorite polo shirts, so wearing one is like wearing their classic tees on your wrist.
