But not so fast— Buying those decorative contact lenses can be risky.
Dr. Steve Bagan, a local Ophthalmologist, cautions that your Halloween get-up and health might be better off without them.To get more news about

"I have seen this! It's not academic, it's real. I've seen people have infections that result in permanent scarring in their vision. These contact lenses are not made to fit a specific person, they're just one size fits all which is more like one size fits nobody!" Dr. Bagan said.Costume contacts come with a laundry list of side effects—With reports of lead poisoning and other toxic chemicals found in the liquid the lenses are stored in.
"This particular contact lens here is much more likely to cause an infection in your eyes than one that you would have gotten from your optometrist," Bagan said.To get more news about

But they're easy and cheap to find online. We even found some at a local store today and brought them to Dr. Bagan to take a look at.
"And you bought these without a prescription? Which, by itself is illegal. The vendor who sold you these is breaking the law by selling you these," Bagan explained. And he also says wearing the costume contacts for just a few hours isn't worth it.
"Not at all. I'm sorry, you're not supposed to wear these at all! And just a few hours of wear can be enough to cause an infection," Dr. Bagan said.
